How many students does it take to break a world record? In the case of the students at the Rodillian Academy this is not just a tired joke, but a genuine world record! During enrichment week 982 students took part in an attempt to break the world record for the largest ever practical science lesson, and we received confirmation from Guinness last week that we are now officially world record holders. Students were experimenting on themselves to attempt to dispel the stereotypes that boys are stronger than girls and that girls have better balance than boys. Our results showed that there was very little difference in the strength, but girls had significantly better balance.
Head of science, Ian Aindow, said that the record attempt ‘was a fantastic effort from all staff and students and the enthusiasm of the students as they took part meant that the event was not one they would forget any time soon.’
