National Dance Competition
On Thursday 28th April a group of dancers from across the academy went to Leeds Town Hall to compete in the regional heats of The National Schools Dance Competition.
‘The Big Dance Off’ is the only national dance competition aimed solely at schools and provides the students with an exciting opportunity to experience a professional dance platform.
Our dancers (Melissa Gray, Emily Fitzgerald, Sophie Myers, Olivia Bambrook, Charlie Oldroyd, Isobel Chester, Rebecca Armstrong and Georgia Johnston) performed ‘The Box’, an interpretation of Pandora’s Box which as extremely well received by both the audience and the judges. Although the competition was strong, involving sixteen other schools from across the region. Our piece was judged to be the best, winning first place and entry to the National finals in Oxford in June.
