Leeds Indoor Rowing Championship

On Friday 10th March students from Rodillian Academy took part in the first Row Leeds Indoor Rowing Championships.

10 schools entered the competition which included one male and one female student from years 7, 8, 9, 10 and 11. Unfortunately Rodillian failed to make it into the top 3 schools overall, but all students managed to get beyond 80% of the gold medal standard for their age group.

Special mention to our Year 8 female Lauren Dawson who came 2nd in her race and who rowed at 95% of gold medal distance for her age. Also, Year 8 male Camron Gaunt who came 3rd in his race and who rowed at 93% of gold medal distance for his age.

Rodillian managed a creditable 3rd place in the team relay covering a distance of 2559 metres in 10 minutes with each team member only being able to row for a maximum of one minute each. A great effort by everybody involved.
