Fish & Chips
On 5th February 2014 we invited members of the Rothwell Live at Home Scheme for a luncheon event.
We decided to hold the event after Christmas as many of the older people who use the scheme experience greater isolation at this point.
Both The Rodillian Academy and the Rothwell Live at Home Scheme were keen to develop intergenerational opportunities in the area.

After the event we received a letter form the live at home scheme members.
I write on behalf of the members of our scheme to let you all know how much we appreciated the fish and chip lunch and entertainment provided for us on our visit to you today, Wednesday 5th February 2014.
It was a wonderful trip out which was greatly enjoyed by our members and staff. Our members were particularly impressed with the helpfulness and kindness shown by the students. Many older people do not see their grandchildren as often as they would like and this is a great opportunity to make contact with a younger generation in a positive and supportive environment. The entertainment was excellent, so many stars in the making, and the fish and chips were very welcome as most of our members are not able to easily access a fish and chip shop so it was a real treat for them. The home baked buns for pudding were also delicious.
Thank you to everyone involved for making such a memorable day for our members, we very much appreciate the hard work of the students and teaching staff who gave their time and energy so generously.
I hope we can have similar events in the future and I will be in touch about our “Health & Wellbeing day” we are planning for later in the year.
Thank you once again to everyone involved.
PS We are now on Twitter and will be tweeting how much we enjoyed our day!
